p. 1 Introduction

Since it was published in 2012 as “Spring in Dalian”, this book has been read by many people. Some people read it to learn the development history the computer industry in the second half of the 20th century, while others found in it the information about China’s IT outsourcing industry, used it to learn English, Chinese or Japanese, or read it as a travel guide to China and other countries.

The world always keeps changing, and China especially changes rapidly. In spring 2013, there was a big earthquake and a subsequent large accident in Japan. And in the fall of that year the Sino-Japanese relationship soured significantly. This worsened relationship is reported by the mass media in a too much exaggerated manner, and I believe that our intention to live peacefully together between the two neighboring countries has never changed.

This enlarged edition, “Dalian in Spring”, includes about a dozen episodes that I have recently written. They are about auto-camping, my visit to the area in Japan which was hit by the earthquake, a trip by China’s new high-speed railway, my travels to Central Asia and Middle East, and others. This edition is also available as an eBook.

　　《大连之春》自2012年初版以来已经拥有许多读者。这些读者中即有人见证了上世纪后半电脑发展的历史，也有人熟悉中国IT服务外包。他们有人把这本书作为学习英语、汉语、日语的资料，也有人把这本书作为在中国或世界各地旅游的导游手册。

　　在这个变化是永恒的世界中，中国的变化更加激烈。2013年春天日本发生了大地震并由此引发了核泄漏事故；秋季发生了引发中日关系极度恶化的政治事件。这些政治事件被媒体过度宣传了，我深信中日两国比邻而居，我们一起友好的生活下去的初衷是不会变的。

　　这次增补版在初版的基础上增加了十二个小章节。这些追加的内容包括我以前去露营的经历和最近去地震受灾地访问、乘坐中国高铁旅行、去中亚及中东旅行的经历等。本书在这次的增补修订版发行的同时也发行了电子书版本。

『大連の春』初版を2012年に上梓して以来、この本は多くの人たちに読んでいただきました。ある人たちはそこに前世紀後半のコンピューター産業発展の歴史を見て、他の人たちは中国のＩＴアウトソーシングの様子を知り、英語・中国語・日本語の教材として使い、中国あるいはその他の国への旅行のガイドブックとして読みました。

世の中は常に変わっていて、中国は特にその変化が激しい。2013年春には日本で大きな地震とそれに伴う事故がありました。また秋には中国と日本の政治関係が大きく悪化する事件もありました。ただこの政治関係悪化はマスコミにより大げさに伝えられていて、隣り合った国に住む我々は仲良く一緒に暮らしていこうという気持ちは、一切変わってないと私は信じています。

この増補版では、初版以降書いた話題を約十二件追加しました。昔のオートキャンプの様子、最近の地震被災地への訪問、中国の高速鉄道での小旅行、中央アジア、中近東への旅行などです。なおこの版は電子ブックとしても出版されています。
