Spring Snow in March Under the cloudy, leaden sky of
March, Snow
falls. There
is almost no wind, but, while the little seeds of the plane trees Dangle
down, snow continues to fall. Soon
it will be spring, I know, The
trees will become green. But
the wet snow flakes fall, blown a little by wind, As
if they can read my mind. Reminding
us of the winter, Snow
continues to fall. You
will be leaving here soon, With
hope and to a new life. But
I will remain here, in this snow in March, What
is this melancholic feeling? Without

Wild Roses Came Into Bloom on the Campus Fences To
the two graduating students of Dalian Maritime University In
May 2003 When
wild roses came into bloom on the campus fences, We
met for the first time. You
from the far-away countryside and I from this town on the seacoast. I
laughed at you when I found you could not swim. "A
country lad, you are such a landblubber!" But
soon you were able to swim In
stronger strokes than mine. In
the peaceful time, a sudden accident in the Yellow Sea, And
my dad’s passing away... As we went up the hill and Together
looked down at the sea, You
consoled me and encouraged me to continue my education. In
the evening mist, on our way back from the library, And
in the winter under the blistering north wind, We
were always together. You were strong Despite
the freezing weather, but my hands got cold easily. When
we see the roses for the fourth year on the campus fences, We
will be graduating soon. You
are headed for the sea, and I am going to a far-away country, With the roses in our hearts, from this town on the
seacoast. |

go climb the mountain, to a higher place. There,
we will see the Yellow Sea, mountains and valleys. Though
the wind blows cold, the sea reflects the sunshine, Glowing
in warm colors. Let’s
go climb the mountain, to a quieter place. Closing our eyes, We
think beyond the mountains about the town and its port. It
has a history of wars and colonies, But now it is the Pearl of the North. Let’s
go down the mountain, to the valleys below. There,
we will build a new town. Employing
our newly-acquired knowledge and hard work, We will develop a testimony of peace and friendship for
our new century. |

Fall To
the Eleventh Moon Festival On
September 12, 2011 You
don’t remember, my Friend, that ten years ago I
arrived in this town with only one bag, do you? There
was a full moon on that day, and I had no friends here, Only
the moon giving out lonesome light. There
weren’t many cars at that time. The
town was proud to have no traffic jams. There
were only a few traffic signals. And
we could move far without encountering red lights. The
night in the entire city was dark. I
was resolved to spend the first five years here, Be
a province-level advisor during the next five years, and
be on the national agenda After
another five years, and then go back home. But
I have stayed here for ten years and met many friends, And
thanks to your help and God’s blessing, Today
I celebrate the eleventh Moon Festival in this town, And
eat moon cakes together with you. Recently,
our town has changed to have more cars, more traffic jams, And
more traffic signals. That’s a progress, isn’t it? The
town is vibrant with hopeful activities, And
the bright moonlight reflects the state of my mind. My
Friend, my dearest Friend, in
this town which has become my second home town, On
this Moon Festival day, my sincerest thanks to you! |

Fall Season in the Northern Countryside In
early November 2007 In
Dalian, China The
short fall season of the northern countryside Is quickly passing by. After
the thick mist that continued for two days, There was rain, northern wind and
the first snowfall. And
today we have the clearest sky And there is no wind. The leaves of cherry trees in the street corner are
getting red-colored, The maple trees that are rarely
seen are having yellow leaves. The
plane trees which provided good shades in summer Seem to say, “We are going to stay
in this way for a while.” But
the green leaves that remain now will soon fall, Leaving only their bell-like
seeds. During
the summer, many people played shuttlecock At lunch time in the software
park, But
nobody plays it now. From next week, we will have room-heating
for the long winter. Before
the northern wind starts to blow, Let’s enjoy the fall season of the
colored ginko trees. |

Winter Early
Morning Mist on December 1st December
1, 2010 Over
the road wet with the mist of the first day of December, Protecting
my arm and waist that hurt, I
walk to the bus stop carefully, not to slide. The
damp and cold wind, through Reaches
to the skin of my body, making my melancholic mood Even
more gloomy. I
get on the bus, but cannot see today the eight CAT brand construction
vehicles that I see these days, Hidden
in this morning’s thick mist. My
bus moves through the wet leaves of plane trees As
if it ploughs through them. Is
it love or addiction to love? My heart aches. I
know the morning mist will clear up soon. Will
there be sunlight after this? Will
it cure my aching body and heart? |
冬 十二月初的晨雾 2010年12月1日 十二月月初那天，晨雾打湿了路面。 我小心地护着还在隐隐作痛的手腕和腰， 小心地走向车站。 夹杂着湿气的寒冷， 钻进我的身体。 不快的心情更加阴郁。 坐上公车，每天都能看到的 CAT 标志的8 台工程车 却因为今天的浓雾，没能看见。 浓雾打湿了梧桐的叶子。 公车推开浓雾，在布满梧桐的道路上行进。 是爱？是爱欲？心里很痛。 晨雾不久就会散去了吧，天空马上就会放晴了吧！ 我等待着浓雾过后的灿烂阳光！ 那时伤痛的身体和心都会痊愈了吧！ |

east under the clear sky. The

the railroad station which was crowded With
the people who were to spend The
Lunar New Year holidays with their families. When
will the two, belonging to different families, Meet
again? That will be When
the new moon becomes a full moon and Lantern Festival Day arrives in two weeks. |
